Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences (EkoUNIMED), Ijanikin, Lagos, on Friday, July 31, 2026, recorded another significant milestone in its history with the official Handover Ceremony between the Pioneer Registrar, Barr. Abdul-Lateef Omotosho Animashaun, and the Newly Appointed Registrar, Dr. Olanrewaju Morounkeji Fashola.
The ceremony, held ahead of the Sendforth Programme organised in honour of the outgoing Registrar, marked the formal transfer of the administrative responsibilities of the University’s Registry and reaffirmed EkoUNIMED’s commitment to continuity, excellence, and sound institutional governance.
In a symbolic presentation, Barr. Animashaun formally handed over the official documents and responsibilities of the Registry to Dr. Fashola, who now assumes the role of Registrar. The event was witnessed by members of the University Management, principal officers, and staff.
The handover also served as an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable legacy of Barr. L.O. Animashaun, whose dedication and visionary leadership have been instrumental in the growth and development of EkoUNIMED since its inception. As the University’s Pioneer Registrar, he played a pivotal role in establishing the administrative framework that has supported the institution’s steady progress, including successful Accreditation Exercises, Matriculation Ceremonies, the Maiden Induction Ceremony, and the University’s Maiden Convocation Ceremony.
Receiving the handover documents, Dr. Olanrewaju Morounkeji Fashola expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in her and reaffirmed her commitment to building on the solid foundation already established. She pledged to work collaboratively with the University Management, staff, and other stakeholders to further enhance administrative efficiency and contribute to the continued advancement of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor and members of the University community commended the outgoing Registrar for his years of exemplary service and wished him continued success in his future endeavours, while also welcoming the new Registrar and expressing confidence in her capacity to lead the Registry into a new phase of growth and innovation.
The Ceremony concluded with goodwill messages, presentation of official handover documents, and photographs commemorating this historic transition in the University’s administration.
