EkoUNIMED proudly celebrates 12 of its students who have been selected as Millennium Fellows for the Class of 2025. This marks the University’s first participation in the prestigious Global Leadership Development program, reinforcing its mission to nurture globally competitive leaders in health, innovation, and community impact.
The Millennium Fellowship, an initiative of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN), continues to attract outstanding young leaders worldwide. For the 2025 cohort, more than 60,000 students applied from over 7,500 campuses across 160+ countries, highlighting the program’s global reach and competitiveness.
From these applications, over 290 campuses across 47 countries were selected to host Fellows this year, culminating in a cohort of more than 4,000 Millennium Fellows. These Fellows are united by a shared commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 10 UNAI principles.
As part of the semester-long program, Millennium Fellows participate in intensive leadership development, honing essential competencies for careers in sustainable development. Each Fellow or Fellowship team also implements a social impact project addressing one or more of the 17 SDGs, enabling them to transform ideas into meaningful community action.
This year, the institution proudly joins this global network, with 12 students successfully completing the Millennium Fellowship and implementing impactful, community-focused projects aligned with global development priorities.
The Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Millennium Campus Network, Sam Vaghar, notes that the Fellowship equips students with the mindset, skills, and global awareness required to lead social change.
The program continues to inspire thousands of young changemakers to design innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
EkoUNIMED remains dedicated to empowering its students not only academically but also as future leaders poised to drive positive change both locally and globally.
